Whisper or Shout: Artists in the Social Sphere

An exhibition I have curated, Whisper or Shout: Artists in the Social Spheref, opens at BRIC House on March 17.  It features the work of nine artists who engage with a range of critical contemporary social and political issues. Each of the artists will bring different issues to the table, including police violence, homelessness, gentrification, and cultural self-determination, to name a few. In presenting these projects, the exhibition will underscore the varied forms of communication and language that artists devise asstrategies of protest, education, documentation and/or information sharing. They include posters, music, speech, silence, photography, computer languages, and apps. Central to the exhibition will be a series of public programs including artist performances and workshops.

Clifford Ross at BRIC House

On July 9, we'll open Water|Waves|Wood, an exhibition of monumentally scaled photographs printed on wood by the noted photographer Clifford Ross.  These majestic images capture nature at its most sublime, and will transform BRIC's gallery into a space for contemplation - about nature and the way we perceive the photographic image.  More information about the exhibition is here.

Photo Jurying...

I'm looking forward to reviewing portfolios at the New York Times Portfolio Reviews on April 11, 2015.  Here's a Times Lensblog article on the event, which is consistently a great opportunity to look at exceptional work.

I'm also be a juror this year for THE FENCE , an annual, summer-long, outdoor photographic exhibition inaugurated in 2012 as a sister initiative to Photoville in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
